On a normal day at our school, I’m a Kindergarten teacher! But, on half days for parent conferences or professional development, we have STEM day and the students get to choose a class to attend. Last month, I stepped out of my comfort zone and lead a 3-5 grade class on this lesson, Theme Park Engineer: Designing a Water Slide. We had so much fun and made quite a mess in my room! None of the 4 groups were able to create the water slide of their dreams- part of it was ambitious goals and lack of supplies! 🙂 However, all 4 groups were able to successfully create a water slide to carry their figure down the flume, with only minor leaks! Thanks for a wonderful and engaging lesson.
My students loved this lesson! We may use some of these to enter in the Rozzy Virtual Science Fair!
Oh, what a ride!!! This was one of our first STEM Career and Adventure lessons. This was an amazing lesson for our kids to learn. They had to build a working water slide (1m long), it must be a water proof and have a running water while testing. They had to build and re-build over and over (some did). Thanks to our great community, we had plenty of donated recyclable material (shoe boxes, cereal boxes, empty water bottles, and so much more). We made mess, we struggled, but at the end, it was a success – 80% (out of two 4th grade classes) working water slides!!!
Order status changed from Pending payment to Processing.
