My students loved this lesson. They loved drawing on the big paper and working together to build towns that they wanted. It also allowed us to talk about community helpers and how they work in our community. Thanks for a great lesson!

Our 2nd grade reading story is called Mattland. Where a boy and his new friends create a very imaginative city of their own.
This STEM lesson went perfectly with our story of the week.

This will be a fun lesson for my younger ESP kids. Last year, we imagined that we were a city(instead of a school) and we had interested students elect a town council, a park board, and a mayor. This will add to what we did last year!

My K/1 students enjoyed this lesson. We were able to talk about the differences in rural and urban areas and what was typically found in each. They loved working on one huge project together.

This was our third STEM Career Adventures lesson of the year. After doing the Architect Underwater Building and Engineering a Vegetable Picking Robot this gave me a little bit of a breather. I just gave students large sheets of paper and crayons for this lesson. I was able organize some of my other building materials (cardboard, tape, toilet paper and paper towel rolls, pipe cleaners, etc.) while students worked on their city plans. Less clean-up, and I believe they enjoyed it just as much as the other lessons. This mess-free lesson also helped me gear up for making Eco-Safe Plastic toys next!
