The students were able to get a hands on experience while exploring the dermatologist career. They had a better understanding of the layers of skin since they were able to make their own model while using materials that were similar to the actual layers. While they were creating their band-aid I heard several students say they wished these types of band-aids existed. We discussed that is how these types of things get invented! They loved being apart of that process. We also did the writing piece for this activity, writing a Public Service Announcement. They worked with their small groups and asked to share their PSA with the rest of the class. They were engaged the whole time and learned so much about a new career.
My students had a blast making their Skin Models….some of them got really creative while others got really messy. The part I love about STEM is that you are not setting a limit on the students learning.
Order status changed from Pending payment to Processing.
My students really enjoyed learning about their skin. The models they made turned out great. We also made a slide show which included a picture of their model that they had to label and a slide with some interesting facts about skin. The slide show turned out great. We can’t wait for the next Rozzy lesson.
